Through our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), clients are able to continue the recovery process outside a residential setting.
La Paloma’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) meets every weekday morning for three hours and addresses mental health, relapse prevention, coping skills followed by a process group. A nurse practitioner is on hand to handle any psychiatric medication issues, and family can also be included in this process. The average IOP client attends for anywhere from 4-8 weeks, depending on their individual needs.
Like PHP, Intensive Outpatient can provide a continuum of care following a Residential program or may be indicated for those able to benefit from a less restrictive level of care.
IOP Treatments
Offered during both day and evening hours, participation in IOP allows an individual the flexibility to receive intensive treatment while practicing recovery skills both at home and at work.
Services at the IOP level of care include:
Individual Therapy
Group Therapy
Educational Groups
Family Therapy
Relapse Prevention and Life Skills Groups
12-Step Recovery
Who Attends IOP?
Most IOP clients have transitioned from residential treatment as a way to ease back into everyday life. Others come to IOP as past residential treatment clients who have relapsed or fear they are in danger of relapsing. For them, IOP provides an intensive refresher course without the need for full-time care. The final group in IOP is those for whom this is their only treatment. While not a replacement for residential treatment, for those who are unable to be away from home due to family or job constraints or other circumstances, IOP provides an alternative method for addressing their addiction issues.
Some IOP clients are in Sober Living facilities and welcome the structure IOP provides during the transition. All those in IOP are encouraged to also attend 12-step meetings or other support groups. IOP is not a replacement for those meetings, it’s a way to reinforce the tools available for relapse prevention.
Our staff members are ready to help you learn the skills necessary to successfully transition into a new life in recovery.
